Gears Questions
Would gears decrease 0-60 times?
Also, my car makes a faint whine as it accelerates and is at ~4k rpm at 80mph in 6th. I bought it used and would like to know if I may unknowingly have gears installed.

Don't worry s2k geared > non gear s2k.
Yes you will have a faint whine at first but it will go down after 500miles. Mine actually dind't even have a whine at all for current set of 4.57s. When I had 4.56 there was a whine which went away.

does anyone recall what rpm a stock s2000 is at in 6th going 80?
thanks silverknight, i know what a stock s2000 does but i was just curious if gears would bring one into the 4's. i'm not worried about it and there's nothing "magical" about 60, just wondering.

If you unknowingly have "gears" but the previous owner didn't bother to put on a speed compensator (Yellow Box), no graph will help you as you will still read the same rpm for any designated road speed. The only way to find out is to get paced by another car or by GPS. When the known source is going at XX mph, note your rpm and what gear you're in. Then, look at the graph to see how it compares.
