In general I agree with you -- anecdotal evidence is better than nothing, but people's memories and reports thereof can be badly flawed. Still, when the reports build up, there's probably something to them; it's easy to imagine that this is an area in which even Honda's pride and joy F20C varies (especially considering that some of the relevant parts of the block are -- I believe, though I could be wrong -- cast rather than machined; also, I presume that filters themselves vary in their capacity).

Given that some spillage is likely regardless who's changing the oil, that you don't have to throw the extra away, and that many S's burn oil, the advice to get six quarts seems not to be "silly".

^yea i forgot also, that its not the type of oil you can get at a local auto store.
