I'd spin it in a drill press with fine sand paper.

Give it to me next meet and I'll make it pretty
That might be better than my idea. I think we were posting at the same time because that wasn't there when I had my brainstorm.
To the OP:
You can get extemly fine sandpaper sold as "modeling film" in any hobby store. Even finer sandpaper is available for automotive finish color sanding. I have seen it as fine as 3000 grit. You probably would only need to go as far 600 to 800 (modeling film). Good luck.

Try nail polish remover. My nephew was trying to clean up some of the paint with nail polish remover and it removed the film.

Are you talking about the red rubber coating we use to mask the knob?

Just pull it off. It will rub right off. Also, only the Pearl knobs have anything other then metal under that red mask. That is powder coating and you should be just fine with.

Also, you know if you would e-mail us (Rick's) we could have anwser this for you.

no the red rubber coating i took off awhile back...there's another clear film protecting the knob for mine..i personally would keep it on of course since i would assume it protects the knob from scratches, etc. but it's already coming off..and sorry for not e-mailing you guys earlier...i didnt think about it at the time

Without knowing what your order number is, I would have to guess you have a Pearl knob. All of the rest of our knobs have a raw metal finish. The Pearl knob has a clear powder coated finish. So can you explain (with a picture) of what else is on your knob?

On the "Send us an e-mail" comment, that was more of on offer and a reminder that we are here to help.
