Default a good / strong solution to remove...

while i was trying to paint the shift patterns/numbers i accidentally started to rub away at the film that's on top of the shiftknob..now it look liks kaka unless i can rub the whole thing off..problem is rubbing alcohol alone (which i used for the booboo's i made while doing the painting) isnt strong enough to completely take off all the film...i also dont want to ruin the actually shiftknob by using something too strong...can anyone recommend me a good/strong solution to get this clear film off the shiftknob?

TIA

Uhhhhhh...i don't know if it will ruin the rest of the shift knob...but if you get something like Trichloroethylene (TCE) or some other organic solvent, you should be able to get it off.

gasoline might also work.

I'd spin it in a drill press with fine sand paper.

Give it to me next meet and I'll make it pretty

maybe oven cleaner? It'll eat anodizing. If it's anodized find something else.
