Default Got a quick ? about piston height...

A buddy of mine is assembling my motor for me. Its a sleeved f20c. Cp pistons and carrillo rods. I have never built or assembled a motor before. But is it normal for the pistons to sit .0040 above the deck? I think im wording this right according to what I was told. Just wanna make sure before we finish assembling it. Thanks guys!

The top.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

On a serious note... the catalog from wiseco pistons states:
"S2000 F20 & F22 (Note: Pistons have positive deck clearance)"

I assume that means that they sit above the deck.

If the pistons were flat across at the deck surface the compression ratio would be roughly 5:1. There has to be considerable piston material above the deck to get the compression ratio up. A clay test would tell plenty.

By the way, if you're using larger pistons, I'm assuming this means you need to check your headgasket and cylinder head bores, too... but I'm not sure. Maybe just the gasket... I don't know its compressed thickness (or its uncompressed thickness for that matter).
