I s it true that the 2000-2001 s2000's grind second gear from factory

 

My '00 has never ground any gears except when I was not paying attention or when it was VERY hot and I had been beating on it to get the tranny even hotter. I will grind second maybe a couple times a year. I have not considered it a problem.

 

My 01 did grind 2nd.I rebuilt it and it fixed the problem for several thousand miles.Problem later returned and i replaced the box with an my 05 unit.This box is much better in my opinion,but you have to still pay attention when shifting rapidly at high rpms.Once in a great while i might catch a slight grind when i'm not paying attention.Still its not even close as bad as my original 01 box.

 

how much $$ is a MY 05 tranny?
I might want to get one.

Mine grinds second...my clutch disk buzzes too. Even with these it's not much of an issue to me. I actually don't mind it because I'm less prone to beat on the car knowing that if I shift too quickly it will grind. I take good care of her as a result .

I'm thinking about doing the clutch soon, probably sometime this spring. Because my car is out of warranty I don't think I'll ever replace the synchros, I've seen 04+ Trannies go for as little as $1500 used, I plan on purchasing one when mine gets out of hand.
