Default Grinding noise from rear

So recently my car developed a grinding noise in the rear. I'll describe it to the best of my ability.

1. Taking off in first gear I hear a couple clicks, after the clutch engages no more sound. This happens all the time, but especially when I'm on sort of an incline.

2. After a long freeway drive or a hard mountain drive, under 40 mph I hear this constant grinding sound. It increases with speed but disappears after 40mph.(Or maybe I can't hear it anymore over my exhaust) The sound is present in any gear I'm in, even neutral. At lower speeds it sounds like a creak, as I speed up the pitch goes up and it's a constant whirl.

I read that it could be a wheel bearing going out, but the wheel has no play what so ever when I shake it around. And the second noise only appears after a longer drive when it heats up.

Any ideas?

I have never had a wheel bearing go out on a S2000, but have on a few other cars (honda and chrysler both fwd). I could not tell they were bad until I got them off the car. But they sounded like a tornado in a fender. A couple would "throw" their noise to another corner of the car. On the chrysler, the wheel bearing that was bad was the front left but I thought the noise was coming from the front right.

That's interesting. I'll go wiggle the rear right wheel tomorrow then.

Also check if you have a rock stuck between your calipers/rotors/brakes.
