What is your consumption rate and what other oils have you used?

Change brands at every fill. Or switch between dino and synthetic every other fill. Or go two dinos then two synthetic and alternate until the end of the engines life.
Main point, use anything that makes you comfortable any way you like.
Your choice of oil is the equivilent as your choice of religion. Were all going to die and go to heaven or hell or someplace inbetween and were going to meet a Christain God or maybe a non Christian God or maybe no God at all.
The only people who will tell you they know are the true believers but believers in other Gods or oils will always dissagree.
I use the oil that my dad used since he was a mechanic and will always know more about this stuff than i will ever know.
Keep in mind though, there can be dissagreements between very good mechanics.
The never ending story continues.

That makes no sense at all.

What - are you mixing oils, or frequently changing between brands?
While most oils available on the market are "compatible", no oil manufacturer recommends mixing brands. If you switch between brands every other oil change - you won't see the true properties of any one oil. Additionally, there is some concern of greatly reduced oil life due to interactions with specific detergent package components if you mix oils.

If you mix oils - you don't get the combined qualities or benefits of the mix.
Anytime you switch oils, I recommend you do a "quick change" to help get the residual out. Amsoil (and other brands) state that you won't get the full benefit (and they don't recommend extended drain intervals) while your engine has any mix of oils in it. A "quick change" involves changing to your new brand of choice, and then changing the oil and filter again at around 1500 miles. This ensures the oil in your engine is completely the brand you intend.

If you've truly used Amsoil and your car is consuming what you claim, your the first person I've ever heard that has stated their car has an Amsoil consumption problem - and I would suggest you get your car checked out, because there's likely a problem with it.

I switched to Amsoil at 10K miles.

i used 10 gallons of Amsoil consecutively...and had a high rate of oil consumption.

after that i switched to other oils, and experienced the same high rate of oil consumption.

i have since switched back to amsoil, bought 5 gallons, use it consecutively and still experience the same HIGH rate of oil consumption.

if i'm the first, so be it.

i use krank vents now and do not consume ANY oil at all.
