I assume that Honda would have designed the CV Halfshafts to work through the entire range of the suspension. Therefore, I agree with the theory that the vibration comes from the spider/bearings slipping in and out of the worn grooves. Has anyone used new halfshafts while lowered and still felt the vibration?

LOL, what would we do if the consensus were contrary to the facts?

Grendel, Honda did provide more than enough travel in the inner CV joint to accomodate the full suspension travel. I have never measured the excess, and in fact can't think of an easy way to measure it, but it's clearly there, as can be shown by taking the springs and shocks off the car and moving the suspension through its full range of travel. When we dropped my car we cut the bump stops, and before cutting the stops I wanted to make sure that there was enough excess travel and clearance throughout, and that's the only easy way I know of to be sure.

Avionics86, while SpitfireS raises some valid points, in practice I don't think the spacers do any harm. After seeing the failed bolts, if I'd spring for the spacers, I'd probably be upgrading the hardware, and probably going to self locking nuts or safety wire. LOL, were the bolts that broke made in China?

FWIW, I don't see where the spacers do any harm, other than consuming a little money that could probably be used more effectively elsewhere. If nothing else, the spacers look pretty cool. If I had 'em, I wouldn't take 'em off the car. At least not unless and until someone convinced me that they have some negative effect.

Yes. I replaced my halfshafts while lowered to elimintate the vibration == no change whatsoever. I'm wondering if the spacers would eliminate the vibration I'm experiencing.

The inner and outer joints are now new on both sides, so they're out of the question. I've returned to stock wheels/tires, no change there either.

I'm having the propshaft inspected now and may replace it next.

How much did you lower the car? I assume you replaced the inner CV joints along with the half shafts?? Did the vibration start again a while after the replacement, or did things quiet down for a while? If the half shafts were complete with new CV joints at both ends, then I suspect the vibration is coming from someplace other than the CV joint(s). Interesting issue; Keep us posted.

I replaced both halfshafts from the outer joint to the inner joint just last week. I've had the car lowered 1" for the past 1.5 years or so and have just really noticed the vibration the past year.

It's entirely possible the vibration started the day I had the car lowered but that it took me a while to really become annoyed by it. Now it's driving me nuts and even more so since I can't find the cause.

^^^ To clarify, the replacement included both inner and outer joints. It was a full replacement of both half shafts.
