This is the first time I've seen this, but it is one potential downside of the spacers. Longer bolts are going to be weaker unless a higher grade of bolt is used. Looks like the spacers might cause more problems than they fix.

How are the roads up there? I haven't been to New York for over 40 years, but from what I can remember of the streets in the Big Apple I don't think I'd want to be driving a lowered car. Are the roads and streets up there still as bad as they were when I last visited?

Cool.

Ever since you mentioned lowering your car I've had visions of you bottoming out over potholes.

This....beyond a shadow of a doubt, proves they are a gimmick.

There is NO BENEFIT from a spacer with heavier wheels.
Hello Billman and Red MX5.

When we R&D our product, we actually consult with tuners in Japan about this project.

As we all know....
Honda has precisly calculated the avg. suspension travel, spring rates, shock rates/ wheel/tire weight to match its handling.

Increased wheel/tire weight causes increase in avg. suspension travel.
Which makes sense that CV joint has to spend more time at the it's edge of suspension travel.

Differential output shaft on AP2 IS longer since it has heavier wheel/tire pkg.
We HAVE measured this, but it seems like no one believes what tuners says.

[QUOTE]If the flange to flange width is greater it's probably just one of the steps taken to make the diff a little stronger, rather than anything to do with the CV joints.

What I am wondering at this point is where all these fairy tales come from in the first place?
Who started the myth that the AP2 axles were longer?
I believed that one until it was discussed and debunked.
Do people just sit around and make $hit up?

Hope this makes clear since my english is not good enough to explain it all.

As CV joint stretches out, center of mass moves out causing more viberation.

even vary small Viberation=wears out bearing much quicker.

Please let me know if it does NOT understand you.

i think he understands, but he says it doesn't matter if it moves slightly outward...

apparently you are saying that it matters greatly.

So it's settled then. AP2 does not need driveshaft spacers.
