Default Is it hard to install a diff

My diff went up so I am in the process of buying a new one and though that i could get together with my well experienced friend and swap the diffs.

My question was whether it is hard to install a diff. Any tips or tricks or anything i would need to know?

thanks

Check the FAQ and search...I recall xviper had a write up on installing gears, which would also include instructions on removing the diff.

I can tell you that removing the axles is not that tough (also a write up in the FAQ). Would imagine that after the axles you'd then pull the drive shaft away and unbolt from the diff mounts.

Its not hard at all as long as you either have someone who has done it or you read something to tell you what to do. Luckly, I had billman help me and it was a pretty straight forward process. The diff itself is only held in by like 5 big bolts. The annoying part is removing the driveshaft and just disconnecting the axles (you don't have to completly remove them).

Installing is the same operation in reverse order.

Succes.

A new one as in brand new or another one?
Just asking because the propshaft companion flange is different on 00-03 (IIRC) models.
In your sig it says MY04 so you should have no problem with 04-later.

Is it in allready?
What happened with your old diff?
How did it "go up"?

It's not a bad idea to go ahead and order replacements for those allenhead bolts on the driveshaft flange. There's a real good chance that one or more will get rounded out when your remove them.
