Default Hard to shift into gear

My car is very difficult to get into first gear. I have to row through the gear box then back to first to even have a chance to get it into first. It is also pretty crunchy on downshifts and shifting into sixth. It acts the same with the car off and not using the clutch as it does when the car is on and I use the clutch.

I did an extensive search on the forum. I greased the shift, bled and replaced the clutch fluid. I also inspected the master and there are no signs or leaks for corrosion there. The slave looks good also.

Since the transmission is having a hard time both with the car on and off, is the conclusion that my transmission is just shot?

OEM clutch and flywheel setup? How many miles on them? The hydraulics may still need some bleeding.

Thanks!

The hydraulics shouldn't have any impact when the car is off and the clutch is not engaged right?

The hydraulics may effect the range of motion of the engagement of the clutch. Thus, effect ease or difficulty of getting into and out of gear.

Naturally clutch issues appear when the car is on, so it would seem logical that the issue lies in the transmission. You should be able to row through the gears easily with the car off. It seems like you've already done the easy stuff, looks like you will be pulling the transmission off the car regardless

Rowing gears engine off, not using clutch, is not really relevant. It doesn't matter if you cant do that easily. What does matter is what happens with engine running, using clutch.

Its very common for these cars to have clutch release issues. Most of the time its a hydraulics issue. Air in the lines. Or clutch rod play adjustment.

May help also to do clutch pedal distance adjustment. Can also be clutch was done and splines werent lubed properly. Not enough grease or wrong grease used. That is not so easy to fix (trans has to come out).

It could be trans issue, but more likely a clutch release issue...
