Default harming the engine

i just have a question...

me and my friend did the changing of all the fluids in my s... well, we consulted a mechanic and asked if we could use the GM synchromesh friction modified fluid for the diff fluid... but then he said it could harm my car... so instead, we went ahead and used the honda OEM diff fluid...

so right now, im running on an OEM diff fluid... but i still am looking forward to using the GM syn fluid...

does the fluid mentioned above realy damage my car???

thanks for future infos

What specifically did you put in the diff? According to the Oil Journals, there is no OEM diff fluid, so I'd be changing whatever is in there out pronto.

I hope you meant to say "transmission" instead of "diff"

Yeah I hope so too! I use GMSFM in my transmission, but Mobil1 in my Diff.

Hmmm, a thread titled "harming the engine" about putting transmission oil in the diff.

I'm not entirely sure you've thought this through.

Let me save you before you dig yourself in deeper.

No....GMSFM is used for the TRANSMISSION by many members. Mobil 1 is used by many memners for the differential (75-90 weight).

If you don't know what you are doing then don't do it...the costs can be rather large if you fry:
1) Engine
2) Transmission
3) Differential
