Has anyone removed this piece of afterthought and how did you do it? It looks like it's on some kind of rivet and not a bolt. I would like to take the thing off as it's just a bother to me, but don't want to destroy anything.

I had to ADD mine to my MY 2000 car . It is secured by two nuts and bolts. Open the top storage compartment and look under the lid. You will see two acorn nuts that when removed allow the whole windscreen assembly to be pulled off the top compartment lid. Now you have to look at two holes that could be plugged with an appropriate piece of rubber.

Man, this just shows what a hugely diversified group of people we are. Woodyandy hates his and wants it off, CoralDoc just put one on and I've just spent a wack o' money on Rick's full length insert for the stock screen which is about to go on. I guess this is what makes the world go 'round. It just makes your head spin, don't it?

So those two little black bumps I saw weren't round? They are acorn nuts? The eyes must really be going. I'll look again. Perhaps I'll clarify things for you screen freaks. I'm 6'6". The screen doesn't do a bit of good for me....as well as the roll bars I'm afraid. It also makes for a near impossible task of cleaning the rear window as I can't get my body into the car really in any other way than legs into the well. Thanks for the help. I'll go unscrew the thing now.

Hehe....I like my screen EXCEPT when I have my hard top on. I seem to get these odd reflections in the darn thing ( I think from the window on the HT) These reflections make me all paranoid when backing up or doing lane changes. Makes it appear that there is something I didn't quite see before making my maneuver.
Other than that, I think it performs it's function quite well.

Thanks to all. It's a done deal. Noticed not an iota of difference in air flow with it off. Now that it doesn't have that WTF afterthought gimmick sitting up there for all to see and question, it looks much cleaner. Picked up two plastic deals for the screw holes for $0.94 each and voil
