Default Head Assembly Roller Rocker Pics Anyone?

Hi,

I am putting an F20c head back together after some porting, polishing, surfacing ,new springs valves etc. I bought it completely in parts. The problem I have is that according to the manual, the rockers for the primary and secondary lobes should have been kept together.... which they're not . I am assuming this is for wear patterns on the cams as they wear together. But since I am using new cams (300 intake) (295 exh) and the head was relatively low mileage I am not too worried about it.
But more important are the rockers placement relative to each other on the rocker shaft. The 2 primary (smaller) rockers are slightly different. Does anyone have any close up pics of the assembly? I need to figure out which side each primary should sit on. Thanks, any help would be great.

P.S.
FYI I have the manual (no pics)
and access to Hondas IN network which also has no pics or reference

Don't know if any of these will help. If not, I'll try to see if I can dig up any better ones when I get home.

Hey,

Thanks for responding but unfortunately I need a really good closeup of the rockers themselves. By the way nice toda cams, are they spec A?

K... I'll see what I have when I get home.

Yeah, those are Spec A v2 cams. You can see the first set that sheared the tips of the lobes off, plus the second set which are currently out of the car because I can't get them to make power.

I have been doing cam research for months and was really suprised to see the loss of power reported by some board members with the toda cams. Although not a "real world test" I have an engine analyzer (shown to be accurate to 5hp assuming info is good) which i've tried several cam profiles. When I plugged in the spec A v1 I saw an 11hp gain gain at 6100-9000, and 8hp gain 1-5800. However, I saw a loss at first until I tweaked with the intake manifold numbers. I strongly suspect people are losing power on the intake side of the equation. According to my analyzer the ideal cams for the f20c are cams with 300 intake and 295 exhaust which also suggests airflow on the intake side. What are your modiications? Are you using a cam gear?

You can click the "Dyno" link in my sig to see the power that I made. With stock I/H/E and just a mild P&P job, I made about 8hp in the mid range and 5hp on the top-end. That was with the first set of cams before they failed. I added an AEM CAI v1 and the power increased to 10-15hp in the mid-range and ~12hp on the top-end.

The original cams failed and then I replaced them with a new set. Since installing the new set of cams, I find that I do not even make as much power as the stock cams make. My current mods include a Toda header & Amuse R1000 (header-back) exhaust. Still the Toda cams make less power than the stock cams.

I am not using a cam gear, simply because of the fact that 1) Toda does not claim that you need a cam gear for these cams to make power, and 2) I wasn't using a cam gear with the original Toda cams when they were making a significant amount of power over stock.

Therefore I conclude that there is either 1) a difference between these camshafts and the original set that failed or 2) a difference in the current installation of these camshafts and the installation of the previous set.

Hmmmm that's interesting. Are the cams that don't make power version 1 or 2? I would suggest that you get a degree wheel and verify you are at max lift in relation to the crank position. Something does not seem right here. Do you have the ability to plot your cam? If so, we could rule out that possibility as a reason your losing power.
