Default head gasket? at 40,000 ?

check engine light, cylinder #3, didnt do the valve adjust at 30,000, oops missed that one damn it, report of some oil in the water but i cant see it....looks like water is down just abit...have just broke 40,000 miles in 2.5 years

i drive her fairly hard but who doesnt?. some very rare red-lining here and there, lots of shifting and cornering and down/up shifting , down to LA on a regular basis [2x a month] from SF bay area which means sustained high speeds for four to five hours per trip [varying from 70 to 100], some off the line stuff here and there, great performance until that light came on........now its a rough idle...and all the stuff in described above

so its sounding like a head gasket...

Is that common for S2Ks?

do i just expect to do a head gaskett every 40,000?

Am i driving my car too hard based on that description?

some fed back would be helpful................thanks

Oil in the coolant? Definitely a sign of a blown HG, I had the exact same problem some time long ago, the oil in the coolant gave it away. You can go get a leak down test that could possible tell you more.

If there is oil in the coolant then there should be coolant in the oil and this will give you the "mayonaise" on the oil fill cap and or dipstick. I just highly doubt you blew a HG in a stock car at this mileage. More likely a stretched or bent valve causing your symptoms.

I have an 03 with 27k miles and I have had it s/c'd for 9k miles, is a valve adjustment really necessary at 30k miles for any s2k?

Off topic but does anyone know off the top of their head?

Thanks

^ It can be done yourself in less then 2 hours. Or at the dealership for +-125 dollars. So why not. Definetly if you are SC'ed.
