i checked it this morning and it seems empty. now this looks bad as i didnt hear anything till now and i dont check my oil level every day. i just had it changed 2000 miles ago. im not mechanically illiterate i just didnt see the need to check it recently. no clue how it could be so low.

The owner's manual states that the oil must be checked at EVERY gas fill up (or it's equivalent mileage). Some S2000s can burn through quite a bit of oil in 2000 miles and still be normal. I'm afraid this "little" oversight might be something you won't end up forgetting about for a long time.

since oil pickup is at the rear of pan that is why your light comes on under braking

My oil light does not come on during braking, but I can see where the oil light may come on if the engine speed fell below 500 rpm's.

I don't care if you have slicks on your car, if the oil light is coming on, damage is occuring. spider2k never mentioned anything about threshold braking, but did mention that his car idled WAY LOW which is why his oil light came on. spider also mentioned in another post that his engine had no oil in it.

The oil light is not supposed to come on.

Odd, when I was in there doing the oiljet bolts, it sure looked like the oil pickup was in the front 1/2 of the pan, about dead center under the engine. The pickup sits in a 1/2 moon shaped indentation where even under hard braking, as long as the oil level is not severely low, will keep oil around the pickup.

Even with only 2 to 2.5 qts of oil in the engine, the oil light will not come on as long as you have idle rpm or higher. (Don't ask me how I know. )

no doubt i should have checked waay more often but i dont think that my engine burning over 2 or 3 quarts of oil should be normal in any way. theres got to be something else going on.

The pickup is in the front of the pan, at the deepest part of the sump.

A qt of oil use every 1000miles is considered "acceptable" or "normal" for this engine.
