1) dont drive the car til you figure this out, it might be a un-bled bubble in the coolant. and if it is you WILL overheat the car and blow the engine.
2) I dont know of any valve that controls the heater core, someone else will chime in if they have more knowledge..
3) Its possible that the heater core is bypassed..

Just drove it 1145 miles, it's some sort of bypass I was just hoping there was one location it was always done at and I could remove it.

Follow the heater core backwards. MAke sure you actually HAVE a heater core and also that its not leaky. I bypassed my camaro's heater because the hose blew and started leaking, being in hawaii I didnt need it either..

If I were you, I'd trace the line back from the heater core... Did you need a schematic? Look on

hondaautomotiveparts.com for a quick schematic..

there is a valve under hood along the firewall to the right of the battery and left of the valvecover , when you put it to heat the cable pulls the valve , when you put it to cold the cable pushes the valve. You can tell if it is working by changing the heat/cool position and seeing if the valve has moved, easy to see. If it doesnt move or if the cable is disconnected/broken you will know if it is a problem. You need to have the ignition on when changing temps as the cable actuator is electrically powered.
