My hid ballast igniter burned out or something i was wondering if i could replace just the igniter or do i need to replace the whole ballast

 

are you sure it's the ballast.. I had similar problem and it was the actual bulb. Best way to change them is pull out inner fender and then you will have access to back of hid unit. our bulbs are ds2 6000k I believe. I put 10000k in mine and they are dark blue. Did some more research and the ignitor is actually part of the bulb assy. So try new bulbs see if that fixes is.

 

Switching the ballast from side to side will tell you for sure.
