Angry HELP! Is this bad, and what can I do?

Hi Guys

I noticed the following when looking around the engine bay, is it bad, what causes it?

Thanks - please note - really new to anything mechanical!

is it possible oil was spilt a little while filling it up and some just crept down into the valve cover and leaked out the side?

Appears to be a valve cover gasket leak. Clean the area really well and see if you can determine exactly where it's leaking after running the S. You can try retightening the valve cover to spec's, but you may have to replace the gasket itself to remedy the leak. Hope this helps!

Replacing the gasket is cheap and easy to do. I would not really worry about it.

Clean it see if it comes back and if it does replace the gasket

I cleaned mine the last time I checked my valves. It stopped the leak. Just make sure you clean it completely, and polish the mating face on the head. You need to torque it in sequence too, otherwise it will bow slightly and continue to leak. FYI: it's more of an annoyance than a problem.

Great - thanks. I'll clean it and monitor it over the next couple of days.
