Default Help car w/ cel

Ok so I have not checked the cel yet on the car but the cel comes on and the previous owner stated that it came from the mishimoto raditor that is installed. He said it will be fine driving just let it warm up but it never gets up over two bars and when it does it jumps back to two . Any thoughts?

Is their an aftermarket thermostat with it? If it does have an aftermarket thermostat that would explain the movement from 3 to 2 bars, but first pull the cel first. Any auto zone or parts store can pull it and report back here!

looks like you can just replace the thermostat and you'll be solid! Nothing big to worry about and its a relativity cheap fix.

Oh you should just reset the ecu by pulling the 75a back up fuse out and it will turn off the light. I envy you tho, that set up is great for hot climates which colorado is starting to become now winter is through. Your car will run better overall at these lower temps in traffic and heat soak is nearly eliminated.

If you wana go to a stock therm, you can get a genuine one here for around 50 bucks.

But it sounds like you just need to stay under 4k rpms until the engine is warmed up.

I've been through the same code a few times. I have a Koyo radiator, Spoon thermostat (which I hear opens at much cooler temps), switch, and an aftermarket intake manifold gasket. I've learned that if I take it above 4000rpm without letting the engine warm up to the normal operating temperature (3 bars on an AP1) it will trigger that code. Give yourself some time to warm up the motor and take it easy for the first couple miles before getting on it more. Just stay below 4k rpms until you see the normal amount of bars on your temp gauge (Idk what it is for AP2's, 8 bars?) Mine takes forever to warm up and I live in Hawaii! Good luck!

this is exactly what happened. I was late to class and didn't let the car properly warm up. I clear the CEL and it hasnt been back in 2 days.
