Help! changing lugnut bolts
I have some stripped lugnut bolts that must be replaced from the front spindles and I was hoping someone here has done this procedure successfully with all the short cuts to share. Any type of tips or info would greatly be appreciated.
You have to pull the hub out of the wheel bearing to install new studs. You will pull the bearing apart when you do this. It's reccomended to install a new bearing at the same time.
Thanks for the replies. I really need any tips on removing the actual hub. There is no main bolt in the front so I'm assuming you have to open it from the rear. There seems to be some type of cap, should I just pop this off or is there another way?
You take the cap off the back of the hub. A small chisel nder the edge of the cap works well. There will be a large spindle nut (36mm I believe) Remove the nut, and press the hub out of the bearing. Most everytime the hub takes the outer bearing race with it. After the hub is out, you remove a snap ring, and press the bearing out of the knuckle.
