In my experience with the S2000, there are times when the engine does not feel as strong as others. The VTEC "kick" is much more noticeable to me in 2nd and 3rd gears, and when the weatherr is not too warm. Down here in FL, the car feels downright sluggish in hot weather after being driven for a while - a characterisitic associated with heat soak. This occurs when the car has been driven for a while, especially at low road speeds. The intake manifold heats up and the ECU retards ignition timing to reduce the chance of detonation.

First, please check that your oil level is correct. Second, IMO a dyno run can provide some benefit. It can confirm the correct actuation of VTEC, provide a baseline for future mods you might choose to make, and give you some peace of mind.

yea, i'm in FL too, and after sitting in traffic a long time, my S feels slower than my GSR. I'm considering the hondata gasket.

To be honest, that's why I suggested it in the first place. I'm convinced it is all a matter of perception, and his engine is fine. But there is never any reason to sit around and argue about something that can be objectively measured.

B SweepeR B6 has reved his engine to 9,000 rpm. This tells us that his VTEC is functioning properly. The oil would have be be considerably low for the VTEC not to engage. It wouldn't hurt to check the level anyhow, but it doesn't appear at this point that there is a problem with oil pressure at this time as his VTEC if functioning properly.

If you feel that your engine may not be performing the way it should, definitely have the compression checked. Checking the compression will tell you if you have a good strong motor and give you peace of mind. As far as a dyno, if you plan on getting future mods, well then a dyno will give you a base reference.

Get the compression checked, the dyne is entirely up to you.

I feel odd being the only one mentioning it but check the map sensor. 6 months ago I had an issue where the engine would bog through the rev range, and then bog and jerk in VTEC. Did the Map whack, reset the ECU and checked the connections of the Map. Ran like new after that! It is a free and easy fix. Remember, there is a TSB for it now too.
