Thumbs up HELP! i need a s2k doctor

hi guys,

i just changed my stock radiator to koyo aluminun radiator,
the weird thing is that when i set my a/c all the way to the right(heat/red).
i still get cold air blowing, even after 40mins of driving, its still cold air blowing!?
what could cause this?

another is my engine temp keeps going up and down,
could the wrong coolant cause this?
is there a temp control device that could be malfunctioning?
its annoying to keep pulling over, i dont know if im overheating or not.

any help would be appreciated

Sounds to me that you didn't bleed the system by the proper procedure and you have a huge vapour lock someplace in the cooling system.

If you didn't bleed it according to the service manual, a big pocket of air can get caught in the system. Coolant won't flow past that pocket of air. There are two bleeder screws that need to be used in sequence as per the manual. You just can't change out a radiator and not bleed the air out of the system. Just tell the dealer you want the cooling system bled and topped up.

If you're a "handy kinda guy", you can do this yourself using the DIY I wrote up on the coolant change, flush and bleed:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86811

Just scroll down to the part where the bleeding starts.

I've found even if you follow the manual to the T, you will still have air in the system. It can take up to 15 miles or more and the car may start to overheat. It takes some trial and error to get the air out, opening the front bleeder with the engine running helps alot.

xviper: so i should run the motor while "bleeding" out the air pocket?, do i need to unscrew both bleed screws (bottom/top) or do i take it one by one?

DVSwetwilly: my head gasket does look like its leaking, could be the problem.. ill have to get it checked by honda
