Default Help ! My speakers stopped working

My question is ... My speakers all of sudden stopped working. My stereo still powers up and seeks out a station with a stereo signal so I know the antenna and tuner still work. Checked the fade and the balance settings and the mute is turned off . Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Everything is stock. No aftermarket parts on the car , except for the top.

weird, same thing just happened to me. stereo works but no sound. i noticed when i plug the stereo in with the harness i get a pop from one speaker, then the stereo gets really hot within like 10 seconds. i think its a wire thats shorting to the body.

You probably have a bad HU or connection somewhere (possibly the connector for the harness). Disconnect and reconnect the HU to see if anything changes.

Also check the electronics section.

my bad, just read you checked that. I was freaking out for like ten minutes the first day I had my S because I though the radio was shot.

Could be a shorted speaker that is causing the head unit to go into protect mode. You can pull the radio out and test the speaker wires and they should all be 4ohms. If they are you might have a bad internal amp on the radio. ( meaning its time for a new radio). Hope it helps.

I had the same problem with my stereo. My problem was a messed up connection in one of the speakers. I just reattached the wires and it works perfectly find now. I am aftermarket though.
