Help Please! Check Engine
Hi everyone. Im a new owner of a 2000 model honda s2000 with 60,000 kms only in it. Im from the Philippines and only a few of us have s2000 and have limited sources and parts available. Since my purchase of the car I had no problems with it until lately the Check engine Light came on. I went to a shop who does scanning of codes and they came up with these code 23-1 or engine speed failure and code 37-1 or EPS motor short circuit. What they did was just to reset the ecu and the check engine went out but after driving around for 10 mins the check engine came out again. There was no change in the engine, idle and running conditions are the same as when i purchased it. Can please anyone help me what to do? Thank You
No replies as the codes make no sense. Try another shop and make sure they have an OBD-II or "Scan tool". Those codes look like older OBD-I codes found by shorting pins. You can also buy an OBD-II scanner on on the Internet. ~100 USD. The interface connector is under the dash on the passenger side(inUS anyways). Not sure on foreign cars but it is easy to find. Normal format for OBD-II will be like "P0301" or similar. Once you get proper codes posted folks here can be more helpful.
