hey guys, ever since i installed my jic full titanium exhaust, it rattles at idle. it gets kinda loud too. I thought maybe one of the hangers were loose or something, but i dont think thats the case. Anyone else have this problem? what can be done to fix this? this rattle is really annoying me. thanks

 

Either a)something on the new exhaust is hitting and you just have not found it, or b) the change in mass, resonance, backpressure, and material is causing something else to vibrate. Or whoever installed it may have whacked something - even a damaged cat is possible - are the bolts proeprly tightened? Did you hear amny rattling of mounting hardware in the exhuast prior to installation - did you check? Were there any missing hardware pieces? Providing as much background as possible on these sorts of details helps a lot in Internet diagnosis?

If one of the hangers was loose, rattling would not be a result I don't think.

What can be done to fix it? Well, you first have to determine what problem you are trying to solve a or b? If b, you will need to have an assistant with some basic mechanical savvy (or you) get the car up safely, so one of you can pinpoint the location of the noise; from there, the fix should be pretty straightforward.

 

When I had my spugen I had the same trouble. I got under the car and wiggled the exhaust from side to side to find what was rattling and went from there. In my case it was the resonator hitting the heat shield for the cat. Fix - bang on the heat shield w/ a hammer till it stopped rattling.
