Default help! power windows stuffed on drivers side

hi guys

long time reader, first time poster.

I have a problem with my drivers side power windows. It suddenly stopped working and now 99% of the time it doesnt go up or down, but the passenger side works fine.
Also when i lower the roof, only the passenger side goes down but occassionly the drivers side will too. (completely random)

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? What i should check?

Thanks for any help,

I have the exact same issue! My driver side window will go down for a small bit when I lower the roof and doesn't go down all the way. The operation of the window seems fine (I can lower it after the roof is fully retracted).

Any input will be greatly appreciated, I will check to see if the window lock is engaged, but I thought the same as silvers2k01, that it should only lock the passenger window?

Thanks in advance

Eric

I think I figured out what caused the driver side window not coming down when lowering the convertible top. Played around with it this morning and realized that my auto down feature on the driver side window is no longer working....

Does anyone know what could have caused the malfunction of the auto-down feature? What can I do to resolve it?

Thanks in advance

Eric

How hard is it to swap the switch out? I don't assume it to be too hard of a task?

Thanks

This is a common issue with AP1s. In fact there is a TSB for it. The driver's side auto-down switch malfunctions, and a newer part is the fix. I called the local dealer and they quoted me somewhere around $400 for the part alone...

A quick fix you can do is try to reset the window. With the ignition on, press down on the window so that it is in the down position. Hold it here for about 5-10 seconds until you hear a click. Now bring the window to the up position. Hold it there in the up position until you hear a click.

Usually the reset trick only works for a little bit. Hope this helps

$400....

I will definitely give your fix a try, hopefully it'll fix it.... On a side note, I've never fully understand TSBs. Are TSBs like recalls? meaning if even the cars are out of warranty, the dealers will still fix them for free? or they will charge to fix the issue?

Thanks for all the responses thus far, additional comments/suggestions are welcome.
