Default Help s2000 wont start

my s2k won't turn over but the crank still turns and the trans and driveline are intact. I have all the gears and the car rolls fine. I have no idea what's wrong and if anyone can shed some light that would be great thanks.

Look on the floor mat for something broken about the size of a dime. If you find it, then you need to bypass the clutch interlock switch.

That's a good first thing to check. You can find decent pictures of where it's located (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...ce-go-1174827/). The lower switch that you can see easily is the cruise control switch. The upper switch that's a bitch to get to is the clutch interlock switch that you should unplug and jump with a paperclip. It's basically right behind the fuse panel. Here's a picture of mine hanging down with a paperclip in it (bottom center of photo). If that doesn't work report back and I can guide you through the smart debugging process.

Just for the sake of clarification here is a close up of the clutch interlock switch. Number 1 is the connector you'll be unplugging. Number 2 is the clutch interlock switch itself. The crude X that I drew is the cruise control switch and has nothing to do with your problem.

Do you have another key you could try in the ignition?
I once had a very odd situation where it would only sometimes start with one key but every time with another! Something to do with the immobiliser cutting the fuel.

He said the car won't turn over. When something is wrong with the key the car will turn over but won't start.

He said the car still cranks so I don't think the clutch interlock switch is an issue right?

If the clutch interlock switch is gone the start button does absolutely nothing/

We could clear this up if tbelinsky ever came back. His terminology is weird. He said it "won't turn over but the crank still turns..."

Yes, if the engine turns over when you hit the start button the clutch interlock switch is fine or bypassed.

The terms we use for starting a car are frustratingly ambiguous. When someone says won't turn over do they mean it won't crank, or that it cranks but won't fire? Oddly, even some car people misuse the terms.

Some people can't even get what 'crank' means. The insidious push to start, push to stop, that fully disconnects a person from the starting process is only making things worse. You just tap the button, and car will crank itself until it starts. Fine until your battery is dying. Our start buttons are different. You push, you crank. And the same exact action doesn't do two opposite functions, one of which could be required to be performed in a life saving panic situation (unintended acceleration, etc). That manufacturers implement this atrocity (same action performs opposite actions that could be live endangering) belies their inability to understand machine-human interaction.

As car guys we should be better than this. Its a failure on our collective part that we have a post asking for help and we can't even be sure what the guys car is doing.
