Nothing from Start Button - where does this piece go??
Car wouldn't start, nothing from Start Button. Found broken plastic pieces on the floor. Dutifully researched S2K and found I needed (probably) the little piece with the pointer on it (46505-SA5-0000). Procured same,
Problem is, when I look underneath I cant find where this is missing. See pics, looks in place. What am I missing? Where does this go? T^his is what I thought Id be replacing
Replacement part
What I found on carpet when car wouldn't start (battery good, nothing from start button)

Isn't that the remnants of the old pointy attachment which goes onto the sheet metal? Holding the switch onto the car? Maybe, your switch needs adjusting, via threads?

Ugh! Good luck! I hate working under the dash.

That's actually a good idea, just be mindful you don't leave the car in gear.

I don't think cruise control will work either without this piece as the car thinks the clutch is depressed.
I think I'm going to order this part just to have in hand as it completely disables the car if it ain't there.

As stated in this thread, the pieces are what presses down the clutch interlock switch that knows if your clutch is really depressed or not.
You can fix this two ways.
1. Replace the broken plastic piece.
2. Bypass the clutch interlock switch. WARNING, if you do this, it will be possible to start the car in gear, and cause an accident. You may know to always make sure its in neutral, but what if its a shop tech, tires, alignment, emissions, etc, or someone you let use the car. Use caution here.
To bypass the interlock involves using a piece of wire or even a small unbent paper clip to jump from one wire to the other of the interlock connector. This way the car always thinks clutch is pressed.
