Default help! screeching metal-like noise when in reverse

hey guys,

i've noticed that whenever i put the car into REVERSE only, the car begins to make a metallic-like screeching or grinding sound. (it's definitely not the "clunk" sounds associated with tranny issues i've searched out). when i put car into reverse, and hold clutch down or do not move, it will NOT make a sound. but as soon as i start moving, the sound begins. it SOUNDS-like how brakes sound when pads are worn. but it doesn't make sense that this noise doesn't happen when car is in a forward direction. ONLY reverse. any idea what this could be? thanks in advanced s2ki!

so the brake pad can actually make noise just going into reverse and not when moving forward?

yes, alot of time the wear indicators wont make noise going forward but they will when going backwards
