Default Help!! spark plugs....

Alright i jsut pulled my old ones out there a little brown on the bottom of the white, which i understand means there gettin a little to hot which seems to be common on the s2000, and the electrode is a little whitish which mean its running lean?? i oredered denso ik24s which a are a step colder, my question is am i going to hurt anything by putting tehm in?? also i was goign to go with 0.040 for the gap, is this good or bad?? if it matters my only mods are injen cold air intake and veilside ti teardrop. Xviper help if you are out there!

You will not hurt the engine with the IK24s. Many people run them for N/A, and some with nitrous, and ofcourse they have to use them for daily driving also. As far as the gap, I am unsure.

I have IK24s gapped between .043 and .044. I'm all stock with almost all highway miles.

nsx555 what kind of gapping tool did you use, because i was told that if you use a feeler gauge you can file away some of the iridium which will decrease the life?

I did use a feeler gauge, but don't see how any iridium would be lost. I guess anything is possible though. The life of these things, is I am sure, much longer than I will keep them installed before changing, so it is probably a moot point.

I use IK24s gapped to .044 with a cheap coin shaped, infinitely variable gap guage. I have used the wire type gapping tools in the past, but had a very hard time getting the gap accurate due to the extremely fragile iridium tips. Regardless of what type of gapping tool you use, be EXTREMELY carefull with the tips. Probably 50% of the people who have made the switch to Densor Iridiums have broken at least one tip.

50% !!!???? what are you guys? NEW?

In general colder plugs won't hurt the car ...... too cold and you'll just foul plugs often. Too hot is another story
