If it's card in spokes sound, it's most likely your TCT. Billman will swear by it

Sometimes, I imagine it's just loud valves. I'd stop by the shop and ask them about it; maybe have them verify everything was correctly tightened, etc.

Not sure if this is any help, poor valve adjustment can mean rough idle, you don't have this. loud noise all the time, you don't have this, lack of power and poor mpg...you don't have this.
after a valve adjustment my car I still notice valve noise sometimes, it is not loud, it is every present. i think it is normal, at least after 9 years and no issues it appears normal. my car runs fine and i can hear valve ticking when i come near a wall as well.

Car runs fine? good, it is a noisy engine. Now go listen to another next to a wall?

Yeah can runs fine and I get about 24, mpgs combine. It's just that valve noise that sounds like a baseball card on a bicycle Spokes that I hear only when driving , that makes me worried . I had the car for 2 years and never heard it before . Or maybe never noticed it. :-(
