Default Hesitation in VTEC between 7 and 8.5 k

Ok, I am going to try and give as much info as possible....

I own a 2003 Suzuka, all stock. I have noticed in the last three weeks a hesitation that sometimes (10-20% of the time) around 7 - 8.5k. It enters VTEC, but then at full throttle sometimes it will hesitate and feels like it takes a second to back off the throttle and then goes back at it up to 9k.

I drove the car on an extended road trip when it started happening. I thought at the time that maybe the air conditioning was causing this, but now it happened again this morning twice with no air on.

As far as weather, it has been hot when this happened ( 85 -95 degrees with 95percent humidity) although it has been hot for awhile (houston). This does not seem to be a problem that is noted with sitting in traffic. The first time it happened, I had been on the freeway for 7 hours. I accelerated up a hill in 4th, and when it got to around 7.5 it started hesitating, feeling like somebody was pulling on a rope connected to the back of my car.

Anyone know what to check? I just replaced the air filter 2k miles ago so I don't think it could be that. Map sensor? Plugs?

Thanks for any help!

Patrick

Change the sensor on the intake manifold, it should fix it.
