Unlike the new BMW's that will determine oil change intervals based on driving style over time, we will have to make our own determination on oil change intervals.
You can play on the safe side and have a change every 3000 miles. Or if you know that you only do highway miles, you can probably stretch to 7500 miles quite easily (the BMW's will go as much as 12,000 miles between changes). It also depends on the climate you drive in and what oil you use (synth vs. dino oil).

The sticker is no big deal. If you don't like it, remove it. No harm done.
The service recommendation really is to change the oil every 7,500 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first for "normal service" and to change the oil every 3,750 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first, for severe service.
Read the definitions of "severe" and "normal" for yourself. I think "severe" is more normal than "normal."

3000 miles = motor oil company propoganda to increase their profits.
As a true computer geek would say, RTFM (read the .. manual). 3750 is good if you beat on your car and use dino oil, 7500 should be fine if you run synth...
