Default higher rpm issues .

hey guys i have a 2005 honda s2000 with 56k miles . ive owned the car for about 2 months now and i notice something strange with it . whenever i step on it , right before redline at like around 6800 to 72000 rpms its seems to like slip , or hang there for like 3 seconds before redlinning . is this normal for ap2s my old s2k was a ap1 . can it be clutch going bad ? bad or low clutch fluid ? maybe the map sensor? ive notice also that it happens when i shift quick to the next gear . it wont happen if im in gear already and i step on it . only when i shift quick to the next gear . what you guys think ? ive recently changed tranny fluid and engine oil . car runs and shifts alot better and smoother . but the high rpm issue is still there .

I have 130,000 miles on my 2002 which I have owned for 8 years now since it had 7000 miles and I believe I have been experiencing the same issue as you for about 6-8 months now. I don't get into the higher RPM's often but when I do it seems to do this slow down or slip or hang at random, and sometimes not, but the majority of the time it does this. The other night I got on it in first gear and it did it so bad that me Check Engine Light started flashing after it happened, but then just went off. I just had my oil changed so it can't be low oil or anything and it did it well before the oil change as well. I have been thinking that it may have something to do with needing new spark plugs but I have yet to change them out, but I'm curious to find out what is causing this as well.

If its only when shifting fast it sounds to me like the clutch delay valve. Honda put it on the ap2's in response to all the ap1 diff failures. If you let out the clutch really fast the car will delay the release. If you dont like it you can replace it with the ap1 part. If this doesn't fix your problem I would guess your clutch is just due for replacement. hope this helps

not delay valve if it happens when you are just in a gear and hit it

it's your clutch, time to change it

yours could be oil pressure issues in vtec. you need 55ish to keep it engaged, and its mechanical not electrically involved. I had/have the same issues on my built ap1 motor.
