Default Hondata Gasket installed...

So I swapped the manifold. However I had to remove the TB and the IACV. I ordered all new gaskets and am going to replace them one at a time.

Do I need to use Hondabond on the Hondata gasket mating surfaces? There is no mention of it on Marcucci's install how to.

No need for Hondabond on the TB and IAC.

Have you retorqued the bolts on the manifold after running the engine the 1st time?

Does Hondabond go on the Hondata gasket surface (manifold to head)? I would think it wouldn't hurt but don't know if it is mandatory???

I've always put a thin coat of Hondabond around the coolant passages on the intake gasket.

Thanks Chris.

Well it seems to start up and idle normally. I need to drive it...tomorrow.

I think I still need to retorque the bolts from the head to manifold though.

And thanks Billman250.

Did you notice any level of improvement from doing this mod? It seems to make sense and is clearly affordable, but I don't want to take the intake manifold off if there is no real world improvement.

Thanks

I haven't done this mod on my S2K yet, but on my RSX, it did make a difference in keeping the intake manifold cool. In between passes at the local 1/4 mile track, the intake manifold was merely warm to touch instead of scorching. I didn't have to wait as long to let my engine bay cool down before I lined up again. In terms of impacting daily driveability however, it's really hard to say that it made a noticeable improvement.

I would think it would help with heat soak but I haven't driven it hard yet since the install. I had to swap the manifold otherwise I wouldn't have. I've had the gasket on the shelf for almost 1.5 years with the intention of using it when the time came.

No need to use Hondabond. Won't hurt, but I have installed dozens of these on S2k's without it for a total of several hundred thousand miles driven with no issues.
