Default Hondata for the S

Hondata has provided a lot more power at a reasonable cost to almost every Honda produced with the exception of the S. What's the deal? Anyone know if something is in the works or on it's way?

Hondata has stated in the past the market is too small to develop a application for it.

The AEM EMS allready being on the market puts the nail in the coffin.

Some have speculated the K series units may be able to be backwards compatible with some work. It's not going to be cheap to find that out.

Another part of the reason is the S2000 ECU is not programmable/flashable.

There's a lot of sensors that don't match between the F & K series. So to use a Hondata Kpro, the mods are pretty extensive and at that point it's cheaper just to use an AEM. Autronic may be available shortly, as soon as we can get them to support the trigger pattern.

They actually unlocked it and there is 1 person out there with a Hondata setup. I was talking to a racer at King Motorsports and he gave me the low down on the Hondata. Like Slow said the market was to small at the time of development to continue with it. Maybe now we can get them to open that program back up.

It won't happen. I have a friend that works for Hondata and he said they have no interest in pursuing any options for the s2000.

Ultimate Lurker had some type of hondata prototype briefly, I believe Hondata got it back. He posted the same response from Hondata a few months ago, after talking with one of the founders of the company. No S2000 application in the works.

The K motors use a new generation of PCM's They have re-flashable memory, and use current pump/wideband 02 sensors. They also use a much more sophisticated i-vtec system.

Thanks for all the info guys . I was hoping Hondata would come out with something, as the EMS is on the pricey side.

The ECU, to my knowledge, is not flashable because of the type of memory it is. It's not something that can be "unlocked". There are types of memory out there that can only be written to once, while allowing certain parts such as VIN, key info, etc, to be reprogrammed because they lie in a different type of memory.

However, UL would be the one to answer this, but I highly doubt there is some "hondata prototype" S2000 running around out there. Especially since Hondata does the R&D at UL's shop, he'd be the first person to know. While they were working on something, I believe UL said it involved using a K-pro adapted type harness, but it simply didn't work, or wasn't feasible. Either way, I doubt there is some prototype out there somewhere.
