One better on the hood holder up thing, I checked out the spars. I happened to have a fishing kite with various size spars. The factory hood prop weighs about 365 grams. I say about because I weighed it on a kitchen scale and it might be off by as much as 30 grams. The smallest graphite spar that would hold the hood up without bending out of control weighed 88gm. This held the hood about 4 inches higher than the factory so it could be a little shorter. You could possibly save 250 to 300gm or a little over 1/2 lb. by changing.
Removing it while racing and leaving it in place the rest of the time would give the best results and probably be the most practical. It is easily removable by twisting while leaning the rod forward.

JZR Get a clue

I want my supercharged S as light as I can get it and still keep it nice and streetable.

Would you rather run against a SC S with no weight reduction or
one that is 200 -300 lbs lighter with an SC?

Come on, this is real simple.

SIDEWAYS,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING MATURE AND ANSWERING MY QUESTION!
YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW WHO ACTED DECENT AND TRIED TO ANSWER A QUESTION INSTEAD OF GOING OFF THE DEEP END.
IT SEEMS YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF WEIGHT REDUCTION AND THOUGHT ENOUGH ABOUT IT TO ACTUALLY WEIGH IT.

SECRET,

Let me tell you a secret, don't look now but some of your ideas for weight savings are just as stupid as you said mine was.

Was I not talking about removing grams?
Lets see, I count at least 4 of your ideas as removing grams, are they stupid too?

Most of the things you listed are known but it will not leave my car streetable.

Rick:
To be very serious here. Do you have a stereo in the car? If you do did you replace the door speakers? If so then pick up a set of super light speakers. They have a NEO magnet its like a 10th of the weight.

If you haven't replaced the headers do so. 20+ pounds right there! Take off the X brace or any other bracing like that which you might have on there.(if your not worried about that extra rigidity)

As for the hood prop. Honestly its easy enough to take OUT of the car. Just take it out and bring it along only when you know you will need your hood open or to show off the car.

While your at it mind as well take out the trunk metal props.(somewhat joking) Loose that spare tire.(though this WILL upset the cars weight side to side bias.)

Under the car at the end of all the hollow tubing there are metal traps which prevent animals from making a home.(LOOSE THEM!!!)

This will only result in weight savings if the metal traps weigh more than the animals which will live in the car.
