Default Hood won't close with Comptech STB

I just purchased this STB used and it is is perfect shape so it is not bent or anything like that. I installed it last night and now my hood won't close. You have to really push down on the front end to get it locked. At that point the hood is flexed and I don't want to leave it like that. I take the STB off and the hood closes. Anyone else every have a problem like this? Any solutions?

The back edge on mine leaves a small impression on the insulation on the hood, but is closes fine. Both when dropped and pressed.

Never been wrecked... only 7 miles and covered with protective sheeting when it came off the truck.

I can get the hood closed with force but it just doesn't seem like it should remain under a lot of tension like that. It appears to be hitting the mounts and not the bar.

I don't have one of these so pardon the ignorant question - is there a chance that some washers were left in place on the strut towers that are raising the stb?

With the bar removed, are the seems around the hood flush with the fenders and bumper? I am pretty sure the hood latch can be raised a bit.

The bar is installed exactly as the instructions recommend, even torqued to specifications.

After an exhaustive advanced search I found that this used to be a big problem. I'll check with the seller but this could be an older bar thast didn't get much use (or any), it looks new. I'll call Comptech when the west coast wakes up.

Boy you really have to know what to type in this search engine to get results you want. One little word makes a big difference.

There is some glue on top of those bolts, and shock seat. I did not have that much but maybe you have more.

Also yours looks like the newer CompTech design. The older design had differant mounts. The points were the bar connected was not symetrical as it now, it sat closer to the engine.

Questions, when installed and the hood is closed, does the hood still look right at the seams between the fenders?

have you tried adjusting the rubber stoppers so that your hood sits higher?
