Default Horn honks when momo wheel is turned hard

Hello I'm new and have an issue with my 02 ap1. When I turn hard left sometimes my horn will honk then stop as I keep turning back to straight. I have a momo wheel with NO quick release. Thanks for any help

Did you remove the horn button to see whether any contacts are touching structure ground?

Do I just pry the horn button off with a screw driver. Sorry I got the car with the momo wheel and did not install it.

Remove the horn by either

1. Prying it out (it's pressed in lightly)
2. Remove the steering wheel
3. Slide the steering wheel hub boot down and pushing the horn button out from the back (you may not be able to do this depending on your boot & hub)

I took the horn button off and did not see any issues. If I remove the 6 Allen bolt from the center of the wheel to take the wheel off will this set off any type of CEL, SRS light? Also is it fairly straight forward to take off the wheel and check the horn, b/c I did not install the wheel. It came on the car. I don't want to take the wheel off and not be able to reassemble it. Thanks

Yes, taking the wheel off is as simple as undoing the allen bolts. No you will not trip any SRS or CEL lights.

You can check the horn ring when you remove the wheel. It's a circular steel piece which sits between the wheel and the hub with a small tab protruding out. This provides reference ground for the horn.

This post won't be of any use to you, but I just wanted to say that this is a pretty funny issue
