Default Horrible Noise!

I have an appointment with the Honda dealership coming in a couple of days (they can't fit me in any sooner) but I wanted to find out people's thoughts on my car's new problem. This past Friday morning, when I turned the car on it made a terrrible noise for a second. Sound was very similar to the sound a car makes when you try to turn it on even though its already running. You know that nasty screeching sound. Well, I check the oil and it was at a fine level.

It didn't happen for the rest of this past weekend but then again this morning when I turned it on. Maybe it's related to the cold since it only happened in the morning when its cold? But my car has been turning on fine for many winters much colder then it is now in the mornings.

Anyone have any ideas? Has this ever happened to you?

It would appear as though you did not have a firm push on the starter button and you actually let it go slightly momentarily and pushed back in. During that moment, the car did start and when you re-engaged the starter, the bendix teeth hit the already turning flywheel teeth and did not mesh.
If you ever have this happen again and you are sure you had the button firmly held the whole time, then it is possible that your starter has an intermittent short. I somehow doubt this is the case.
