HOT START ISSUE please help :-(
Hi all, as the title suggests I have a hot start issue. I've read all the threads on the subject but my issue still persists.
The car is a 2002 car but 12 months ago I put in a 25000 mile 2007 engine (cable throttle) with all ancillaries so new starter motor, alternator etc. Engine is now on 32000 miles and has been brilliant.
So from cold it starts instantly, no bother at all but once it is hot and you shut it off it just cranks and cranks and cranks. Leave it an hour to cool and it starts no bother at all but it has all but made the car unusable as I keep getting stranded. So I can hear the fuel pump prime every time and the starter motor is not laboured at all and turns the engine over freely. I've replaced the battery and the spark plugs ( I am getting a spark) but this problem persists. One last thing, once the car is running the engine behaves perfectly. Engine and ECU are stock.
I'm not sure where to turn next. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated.

This has been going on for a year?

Have you checked the valve lash since you've had the engine? It's possible that the clearances when hot are preventing ignition.
For your year engine, I would start by looking for tight exhaust valves if this hasn't been done recently.

So it's an '07 motor but running with a cable throttle. Did you keep your '02 ECU or swap to an '04-'05 F22 ECU? Did you swap to an '00-'05 valve cover? If not, what are you doing about the missing TDC sensor?
I had this same problem with an older Accord and changed out the main relay under dash near steering wheel. when it failed it would not turn on fuel pump when hot. Cool it off and it would start instantly.
