Default How is the Comptech Header?

I never see anyone talking much about the Comptech header. Does anyone on this board have it? Does it compliment the Supercharger well, or is it more for N/A applications. It sure is $$$. I expect great products from Comptech and would think this header would be more popular within the S2000 community. Thoughts please

I really don't see how anyone can get excited about any aftermarket header and this includes Comptech, Toda, Mugen, etc.

At least the exhaust and intake make an appreciable difference in sound over stock.

My recommendation is to save your money for something with greater RBH (return by hp) or RBB (return by bling).

Good luck,

headers actually give you much more hp at the wheels then exhaust does. Its one oft he best bolt on mod you can do to a car.
CAI is better on the dollar per hp chart but as a total gain headers should give about 5 times more than exhaust and about twice more than the cai does.
They also change the engine response by freeig the exhasut valves and making it easier for the engine to breathe. Also the sound of the car changes too. Becomes more deeper.
So My opinion its a great upgrade, but save up money and get a good header. A chep one might do more bad or no difference at all.

I heard that Comptech supposedly test up to 30 different designs and found that several actually lost power.
Comptech went with a 4 into 1 design and improved performance 5-7 hp to the rear wheels.
You can go to there website and look at the graph.
Some headers improve top and others middle and some lose power.
I guess that

Thanks for the link. I am not looking for extra noise, but extra performance. So for an N/A application 5 horsepower is what is to be expected. I'd like to see a dyno of a supercharged S with stock headers against supercharged S with Comptech header.

I also want to know how this header performs. It is a 4-1.

What is the difference between a 4-2-1 and a 4-1?

Some places try to rip you off on the header and price it over $1G. You can buy it for only $890.

Generally 4-2-1 gives better mid-range.

The Mugen header is dyno proven to consistantly show ~10hp in mid-range. The Amuse shares the same design but uses larger mid-section piping and is 2kg lighter than the Mugen, which is 4kg lighter than stock.

A dyno of the Toda showed significant gains, but I'm skeptical as I haven't seen nearly enough dyno plots to be convinced yet.
