The passenger door locks when you lock the driver door. You have to hit unlock TWICE on the remote to open the passenger door.
If you dont want to lock the passenger door dont lock the driver door.

I think he's talking about the auto door lock feature. If you're not sure what I mean by auto-lock, then maybe the AP2's don't have them?

I also think it's a PIA and I can only imagine how pissed I would be if my keys were laying on the seat and I closed the doors--only to have them automatically lock on me.

I'd be interested to know if there is a way to disable this feature also.

What are you talking about? My (AP1) car does not have anything like that.

The only "auto lock" it has is if you press *unlock* on the key fob. After about 20 seconds, if you haven't opened a door it autolocks both doors.

And of course if you press the "lock" button it locks the doors.

But otherwise, if you leave the doors unlocked they stay unlocked.

Is there some chance this is part of the (optional) security system?

I really dislike the lock features. Although I still have the autolock, I at least jumpered the unlock to work on both doors so when I push the remote once both doors are unlocked. I really got tired of the passenger door being locked when I didn't expect it and now that does not happen.

Autolock sucks. I am glad I don't have it in any of my Hondas.

You could be right, but I don't know exactly what conditions make the doors lock. I know it's possible to lock the keys in the car because I've heard of someone doing it. I've also been inside the car when the doors locked on me so I'm pretty sure opening the door doesn't keep the doors from locking. Maybe I'll have to go outside and play around with it and see what causes the doors to auto-lock.

Yes they relock if you haven't opened a door within X seconds after unlocking them. I routinely have to re-unlock them again as it seems to take longer than the time frame to juggle keys, bags or anything and get to the door in time. You definitely can't go to the trunk first!!

I do not have any optional security system, this part is standard.

You said you jumpered the key fob to make both doors open at the same time? Ohhhh, tell me how!! It is next to impossible for me to get the passenger side door to unlock in less than 3 tries.
