I have a '96 Accord EX with 75K on the clock. How many miles should my struts be good for? Since it is my daily driver if the struts wore out little by little I am afraid I would just become accustomed to it. Any way to test them?

Does it dive badly when you brake? Does the front end bounce up when you hit the gas? Does it bounce or float when driving on rough roads? Does the body roll significantly in corners? If you answered yes, you need new ones.
The shocks dampen the effect of the springs and keep them from bouncing. If you suspect there is a problem in that regard you may need new ones.

One of the tests we do on cars here is to push down on a corner and release. The car should rise a bit above the normal height and then settle down to the normal height. Any more oscillations and the shocks are bad.
Not exactly imperial measurement, more a rule of thumb.
