only about 1 cm near the attachment of the top, unfortunately i am now out of warranty and never saw, it how do i go about repairing.

 

The service manual (aka "Helm Manual") has instructions. It's on page 20-40 of the manual for the '00. Probably pretty close in the manual for the '01.

I purchased a piece of OEM soft top material from Honda, cut a patch, and glued it on the inside. The material is a 300mm X 300mm square that is about $20. The glue I used is "Shoe Goo", and I got it from Walmart. I chose Shoe Goo since it is strong and very flexible.

Does your tear have any hoops that rub on it when raising or lowering it? If so, you will have to make the patch large enough that the hoop won't rub the edge of the patch.

thanks, now i need to get some glue, i already have a hardtop but pretty much drive my other car when the weather gets cold
