How do I "turn the engine"?
Hey fella's, my S has been in storage since December and I read somewhere on here that it's good to occasionally "turn" the engine
so that some component I believe the lifters don't sit in one position for too long. I don't want to start the car up but would prefer this approach since it's less taxing on the motor.
Does anyone know how to do that and what tools are needed?
TIA!

if the car will only be sitting for a few months, you should be fine without turning the motor, but if you plan on not driving it for more than a year, then you should worry about turning the motor.
Also, it's not about the lifters when you turn the motor, but more of the rings not getting stuck to the cylinder walls.

You could always put it in gear and push it a foot or two

one thing im a fan of is taking a dallop of oil and pouring it into the cyl...then rotate the crank slowly and let that oil get on teh rings and it will eventually slip past the rings but it will help keep things lubed up.
