Did you use a scanner to check the code. Most scanners will also have a code cancel feature.

I would check the Helms manual, but I don't have it with me, I'm traveling this week. Anyone else?

it dodsn't matter how long you leave the battery off. one second is all you need to reset the ECU and CEL. You need to find out why you have CEL. if its on solid then its an emissions problem (fine to drive) but if CEL is blinking, DO NOT DRIVE IT! if its on solid, go to autozone, have them pull the code, and tell us what the code is and I can look it up in the helm manual and tell you what to troubleshoot.
