Default How the heck do I put this back in?

Hello,
I had some oil leaks to fix and I thought (didn't have to do this and should of left it alone) to remove the part that is below the vtec solenoid.

This part is the two bolts just below the vtec solenoid. Once removed it has a screw mechanism that travels into a cylinder and has tension by a spring. Once removed there is no normal way of getting it back into the motor.

My possible thought on getting this back in but need some expert advice. I think that you screw a bolt through the outside hole into the part that screws in and out of the cylinder. This would allow you to lock the end of the cylinder into the left side of the engine block (inside the hole where it came out) and then screw in the cylinder screw in order to move the rest of the unit in place to put in the two screws. I think.

Does anyone understand what part I am talking about and what are your thoughts to this.

Thanks
Chris

I think thats the Timing Chain Tensioner. Your gonna have to buy a new one., I dont think you can reload the spring without causing damage. Sorry...

[QUOTE=RT,Jun 4 2009, 11:41 PM]It's tricky to "re-cock" the plunger since the pitch of the "threads" are just at the angle of repose but it is doable once you see what's going on.

Thanks RT. I did something similar and made a pin from a nice nail. I have it all back together. Will look up orientation pics to make sure all goes back together in the right spot. Thanks a bunch. Woot.
